Day 4 was supposed to be the toughest day of our trip. It'd involve 30km of travel as we made our way back down to Chrome Lake, down the Astoria Valley, back up the hostel and back down to the parking lot.

It was hard to beleive but we received another dumping of snow overnight which erased our tracks to the woodshed. That's at least 30 to 40cm of snow overnight!

Here's Bob doing the trailbreaking again. Due to the dump of snow overnight, it was back to square one again.

Ironically, the weather started to improve as we made our way down.

Once we arrived at the Astoria river, we were forced to break trail once again. Even the snowmobile tracks were hardly noticible with the fresh snow.

These trees were standing upright when we skied in. It just shows you how much snow we received during the 3 days we were in the valley.

Some of the typical views during the ski back. As you can see, the weather is clearing up really nicely.

Here's a final view back towards the Ramparts.

The 30km trip to the car took us under 7hrs which was pretty good considering it took us longer than that just to reach the hut from the hostel on Day 2. I guess we were motivated by the Guiness which was waiting for us back in Jasper.

The 3hr drive back to Spruce Grove followed by the 3.5hrs back to Calgary were pretty tiring but at least I returned with some good memories to reflect upon.

Despite the poor weather, I really had a great time with some great company and I'll definitely be back again!
